One of the most eminent international pianist of the ranks of German jazzmen delves into his most electronic facet with a concept album made in Ibiza

MICROVIBRATIONS is a collaborative concept album that brings together the legendary jazz pianist Joachim Kúhn and Dr Gwon, the renowned electronic music producer from the infamous night-beat island of Ibiza.

One could expect this combination to generate a dance-music album with jazz pianos, but nothing could be further from the truth. Microvibrations is a conceptual album with a deep meditative atmosphere and vintage feel but modern sound. Joachim Kühn seduces us with melodic piano compositions that are somehow far removed from his wilder free-jazz side and Dr Gwon immerses us in an atmosphere reminiscent of science fiction.

THE CONCEPT

Microvibrations is a conceptual work crafted in the style of a tale/opera in which each song represents a specific moment in the particular modern odyssey it portrays.

The artists request their listeners to allow their imagination to flow freely, and submerge into the story of lovers that reach the conviction that the world they live in is too oppressive, deciding to travel the universe in search of a better place, a place to live their dreams of freedom, a place to call “perfect”.

(During the creation of this album "imagine the perfect live" was actually one of the titles being considered...)

Based on this, this album should be listened to from beginning to end, as one would need to do to understand any story... so we recommend the listener to find a nice comfy spot, sit back, relax and enjoy this sonic journey through space and time...
